At the end of 2023, the Icelandic government decided to apply new taxes on overnight stays, which will apply from 1 January 2024.
This means that in the future, every booking will be charged ISK 666 ($ 4.80) per overnight stay (not per person). This tax is shown in the offer when booking.
For overnight stays on campsites and pitches for motorhomes, campers, and caravans, a tax of 333 ISK ($ 2.40 ) per overnight stay will be charged. This amount is paid on-site at the respective pitch.
For cruise ships, the tax is 1000 ISK ($ 7.20) per overnight stay. Billing takes place directly on-site at the end of your trip.
