On this adventurous and very varied ride, you will experience the mountainous landscape of the Snaefellsnes peninsula in western Iceland as well as the Wadden Sea and unforgettable riding days on the sandy beach with a view of the open ocean! You don't have to pack every day: Except for 2 riding days, return to the Stori-Kalfalaekur farm! Accommodation in shared rooms.

ITINERARY

ARRIVAL – HRAUNHOLT

Reykjavik Hallgrimskirkja

Pick up at BSI bus station in Reykjavik at 6:00 pm, where our bus will take you and your fellow riders to Hraunholt farm, where the horses and the Hraunholt family will be waiting for us. After a delicious introductory dinner where we get to know each other. We have time to relax and rest so that we are well-prepared for the adventure ahead. Overnight stay at Hraunholt.

HRAUNHOLT - KOLVIÐARNES

After a short introduction, we begin our ride on good bridleways through farmland with lava fields on both sides. On the way to Kolvidarnes we cross the Haffjardara river. Today's ride ends in Kolvidarnes and we spend the night in Hraunholt. (approx. 16 miles)

KOLVIÐARNES – TRAÐIR

After breakfast, we return to our horses and start our ride along Longufjorur Beach and the south coast of the peninsula. From here we have a fantastic view of the majestic Snaefellsjokull glacier. The beaches exposed by the tides invite us to take a long dip. (approx. 22 miles)

TRAÐIR – KOLVIÐARNES

Today's ride also takes us to the golden-colored sandy beach. While we ride right past the Atlantic Ocean on one side, we can admire unique lava fields and mountains on the other. After the ride, we take the horses to Traðir Farm, where they will spend the night while we make our way back to Hraunholt. (approx. 22 miles)

KOLVIÐARNES – HAUSTHÚSAHRINGUR – KOLVIÐARNES

We leave the herd in Kolvidarnes today and enjoy a great day on the beach. The views of the sea, the mountains, and the majestic Snaefellsjokull glacier are truly breathtaking. We leave the horses in Kolvidarnes and drive back to Hraunholt farm. (approx. 11 miles)

KOLVIÐARNES – HRAUNHOLT

Today the route takes all horses and riders through the mountains and lava fields back to Hraunholt. We ride through fertile farmlands and cross the river Haffjardara and the site of the famous Grettissaga. Grettir was one of Iceland's most famous outlaws. (approx. 16 miles)

HRAUNHOLT – RAUÐANESLAUG – HRAUNHOLT

On our last day of riding, we can experience the beautiful landscape surrounded by lava, mountains, rivers, and lakes one last time. The destination of today's ride is the Raudamelslaug thermal spring, where we can relax with a nice bath before we make our way back to Hraunholt, where we have dinner together for the last time. (approx. 14 miles).

HRAUNHOLT – REYKJAVÍK

Transfer back to the greater Reykjavík area for the last overnight stay. Arrival approx. 11:30 am.

Riding Tour

Suitable for:
Experienced riders: Can easily control the horse in all gaits, sit securely in the saddle, and feel comfortable in the saddle for up to 7 hours a day. They can ride at a fast pace over uneven terrain and up and down slopes. Experienced riders can follow the herd at any pace.

Accommodation:
You share hotel rooms in the greater Reykjavik area (single room occupancy only possible here), beds made up in shared rooms during the ride.

Knee-high rubber boots are necessary for this tour! The itinerary is subject to change.
