Itinerary

Dates and prices

Arrival - Reykjavík

Hoefdi Lighthouse in Reykjavik ©Icelandic Explorer

After landing at Keflavik Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel in Reykjavik. Depending on your arrival time, you have the opportunity to book an optional day trip or explore the city. Dinner is on your own - Reykjavik has a variety of fantastic restaurants. Or book a food walk and try traditional Icelandic dishes.

THE GOLDEN CIRCLE - South Shore

Geyser Strokkur

After a hearty breakfast, we will meet our guide in the hotel lobby and make our way to our first stop: the impressive Thingvellir National Park, where we will visit the oldest parliament in the world, the Althing. Another highlight of the national park is the fissure between the Eurasian and North American continental plates, which visitors can walk through.

Our next destination will be the geothermal area of the geysers. Not only can we witness bubbling mud puddles, but we can also observe the famous Strokkur geyser spouting an impressive fountain of water every few minutes. We will then proceed to the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall, which partially freezes over in winter, creating a unique sight.

We can enjoy the local culture in the town of Laugarvatn, where we will visit a geothermal bakery and have the opportunity to sample fresh bread straight from the ground. We then drive along the south coast, stopping at the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss and also the black sandy beach Reyniafjara. We end the first day of our trip in Vik, Iceland's southernmost town. Dinner and overnight stay in Vik.

Vatnajökull National Park - Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

We have breakfast at the hotel and then make our way to the southern region of Vatnajokull National Park. We cross the Eldhraun lava field and visit the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon. In the lagoon, we take a boat tour and can admire the floating icebergs from close up. Next to the glacier lagoon is the famous Breidamerkursandur beach, better known as Diamond Beach. We then visit the Skaftafell region, a green oasis surrounded by lava and ice.

Back in Vik, another local highlight awaits us: a beer tasting in a small local brewery. We learn something about the production of beer and can look forward to a delicious barbecue afterward. After dinner, we can take an optional evening walk in the midnight sun.

Hveragerði - Blue Lagoon - Reykjavik

Blue Lagoon

After breakfast at the hotel, we will head back along the beautiful south Coast. On our way, we will stop at the village of Hveragerdi, which is one of the few inhabited places in the middle of a geothermal area. Then we will visit a horse farm where we can interact with Icelandic horses and enjoy some traditional refreshments. Our journey will then continue along the coast to the Reykjanes peninsula, and we will make a detour to the famous Blue Lagoon, where you can take a relaxing bath before we drive back to Rekjavik. Overnight in Reykjavik

Departure
