Guided Northern Lights Tour

Itinerary

Dates and prices

Arrival - Reykjavik

Sun Voyager winter

On arrival at Keflavik Airport, a FlyBus shuttle will take you to your hotel in Reykjavik. Explore the Nordic capital on your own and visit the beautiful Harpa Concert Hall or the famous Hallgrimskirkja. Dinner on your own.

REYKJAVIK - BLUE LAGOON - REYKJANES PENINSULA

Blue Lagoon

You will meet your guide and group in the morning for a short city tour of Reykjavik. We then head out of town to the Reykjanes peninsula where you find hot springs, vast lava fields, bird cliffs, lighthouses, and more. We finish off the day with a soak in the famous Blue Lagoon before heading to our overnight at a hotel in South Iceland where we spend two nights.

The guide will inform us about the nature of the Northern lights before we head out to the cottage surroundings in search of the Northern lights.

SOUTH ICELAND - SELJALANDSFOSS, SKĂ“GAFOSS, REYNISFJARA

Skogafoss

Today, we are going to explore the South Coast of Iceland, which is known for its glaciers, waterfalls, and volcanoes. Our first stop will be the stunning Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can walk behind the waterfall for a unique view! Next, we'll visit the 200-foot-high Skogafoss waterfall, one of the prettiest in Iceland. Nearby, you can find the Skogar Folk Museum, which has an outstanding collection of domestic artifacts and turf-built houses. If you're interested, you can also reserve and pay for an optional glacier walk on the Solheimajökull glacier tongue when booking the tour.

If you decide to skip the glacier hike, the tour will continue further south. You'll have the opportunity to stroll along the famous Black Lava Beach at Reynisfjara, take in the views of the Cap of Dyrholaey and the Reynisdrangar Sea Cliffs, and conclude with a visit to the charming village of Vik. In the evening, there will be a presentation about the Northern Lights. If the night sky is clear, you might be able to see the Northern Lights swirling in a wild and carefree dance across the heavens in dramatic shapes, colors, patterns, and sizes.

For those who opt out of the glacier walk, the tour will continue further south, where you can stroll on the black lava beach to see the amazing bird cliffs at Reynisfjara near Vík. After dinner, there will be another presentation about the Northern Lights. Hopefully, the sky will be clear, allowing us to admire the mesmerizing Northern lights as they dance across the sky.

Golden Circle & Icelandic Horses

Geyser Strokkur

In the morning, you'll get to know the Icelandic horse and its history and special qualities.

We will also visit a geothermal greenhouse. Then, we'll continue to the geothermal area of Geysir with a variety of hot springs and bubbling mud pools. You will see the geyser Strokkur erupt approximately every 8 minutes. After that, we'll head to Gullfoss, "the golden waterfall," which is a double-tiered waterfall that plummets 112 ft into the Hvita River. The final part of the Golden Circle is Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The day ends in the capital for the last night. An optional Northern Lights boat tour can be booked on the spot for the evening if the weather conditions are favorable.

Departure

With many unique experiences in mind, it's time to say goodbye to the land of fire and ice. A shuttle will take you from the hotel to Keflavik Airport, from where you will start your journey home.
