Arrival Day

Flight from your selected airport to Iceland/Keflavik. Shuttle Transfer from the airport to your hotel in Reykjavik. Depending on your flight we can arrange for you to go whale watching or join a guided food walk. The food walk is a great way to not just eat delicious delicacies, but also to see the city and get a good overview of where things are and familiarise with the area.

In the evening you will be picked up for a Northern Lights coach tour. Far from the glow of the city lights, we hunt for the elusive Aurora Borealis – known as the Northern Lights. Together we will search for these magnificent auroras. On a clear night, we may be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights swirling in a wild and carefree dance across the sky in dramatic shapes, colors, patterns, and sizes. (We cannot guarantee sightings even if the tour is operated. In these cases we offer our customers a second tour free of charge).

The Golden Circle

Gullfoss waterfall in winter

From Reykjavik, the Golden Circle Tour takes you via the Nesjavellir geothermal field up to the Geysir geothermal area, home to the famous Geyser and Strokkur hot springs. The Strokkur hot spring erupts about every 5 minutes, making it one of the most active geysers.

From the Geysir area, continue to one of Iceland's greatest personalities up close: Gullfoss (Golden Waterfall). Majestic and thunderous, the power and beauty of this two-tiered waterfall won't let your camera go.

Next on the agenda is theThingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the tectonic plates of Europe and North America meet and where one of the world's oldest parliaments was founded in 930 AD.

Out of Reykjavik, the tour takes route 1 east across Hellisheidi, you travel past the greenhouse village of Hveragerdi and through Selfoss town, the commercial hub of south Iceland. Continuing east from Selfoss you will see arguably the most picturesque waterfall in Iceland, the 65-yard-tall Seljalandsfoss cascades down from ancient sea cliffs into a shallow pool. Walking behind the waterfall provides some excellent photo ops with spectacular views out to the countryside. The next stop is at Skogar to visit the famous Skogafoss waterfall that by many is considered the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland. Continuing from Vik across the sands of Myrdalssandur you enter the enormous lava field Eldgjarhraun produced during a massive volcanic eruption of Eldgja volcanic fissure in 934. The lava field covers an area of about 270 square miles and is considered one of the largest lava flows to occur in Iceland since the end of the last ice age.
Next up is the beautiful nature reserve of Skaftafell located in Vatnajokull National Park. Tongues of glaciers that flow down from the enormous Vatnajokull glacier create majestic scenery begging to be explored. From Skaftafell your journey to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon located at the end of Breidamerkurjokull glacier that branches the great Vatnajokull glacier. With a depth of around 274 yards, this roughly 7 square miles lagoon is packed with huge pieces of ice that have broken loose from the glacier, silently floating towards the sea. After you have enjoyed the dramatic scenery of Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon the course is set for a nearby accommodation where you will enjoy dinner (dinner is not included in the tour price) and relax for the remainder of the evening. During winter time, if the weather is good and the skies are clear, you might be able to experience the amazing northern lights flickering in the sky over Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon.

After breakfast, you get to spend some time at Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and also take a walk by the lagoon and explore the black sand shores where seals are commonly seen basking. Returning west towards Reykjavik tour will take you to Dyrholaey island, a beautiful promontory that constitutes the southernmost point of Iceland‘s mainland. Formed in a sub-aquatic eruption thousands of years ago Dyrholaey is about 131 yards tall, home to an array of seabirds. Visits to Dyrhólaey Island may be canceled due to weather conditions. Heading back towards the capital you will have one last stop to explore the amazing Reynisfjara shore and the strangely shaped basalt columns of Reynisdrangar. Overnight in Reykjavik.
