City Breaks NEW YEAR'S OFFER TO ICELAND

When you touch down in Iceland your transfer awaits you once you are through customs check. Enjoy the airport shuttle transfer to your hotel in Reykjavik while admiring the volcanic nature of Iceland. Note that check-in starts at 15:00 During the day stroll through the streets of Reykjavik. In the evening you will go on a Northern Lights boat tour from the Reykjavik old harbour. On a clear night, you may be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights swirling in a wild and carefree dance across the sky in dramatic shapes, colours, patterns and sizes. (We cannot guarantee sightings even if the tour is operated. In these cases we offer our customers a second tour free of charge). Tour duration: 2 hours

Today you will visit the famous sights on the Golden Circle route. The tour starts with a visit to Fridheimar greenhouse where we learn how to grow delicious tomatoes in an eco-friendly way with the aid of geothermal heat which Iceland has in abundance. After Fridheimar, we stop at the Geysir geothermal area. The Strokkur geyser shoots a column of water up to 30 meters (98 ft.) into the air every 4-8 minutes in a thrilling display of nature’s forces.

The visit continues with the Gullfoss waterfall, created by the Hvítá River, which tumbles and plunges into a crevice some 32 m (105 ft.) deep.   We also visited the historical and geological wonders of Thingvellir National Park. Here the American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart at a rate of a few centimetres per year. Thingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tour duration: 8 hours 

Spend the day at your leisure, or add an optional activity.  Coach transfer from the hotel to the dinner location at 18:00.  You will spend New Year's Eve in a charming restaurant in the old town of Reykjavik. A buffet dinner with typical Icelandic specialties and international cuisine awaits you. After dinner, coach transfer from the restaurant to the hotel.  You could also stay downtown and enjoy fireworks displays that light up the city at midnight. Celebrate the New Year with the Icelanders. Get back to the hotel on your own.

Today you will experience the wonders of the Blue Lagoon. A visit to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa is an important part of your stay in Iceland. Guests renew their relationship with nature, soak up the scenic beauty, and enjoy breathing the clean, fresh air while relaxing in the warm geothermal seawater. Return coach transfer is included. Departure from Reykjavik at 11:00. Flexible return.

After an impressive and memorable trip to Iceland, it is time to leave. Depending on your departure flight time you can spend the morning in Reykjavik before you take the airport shuttle transfer back to Keflavik International airport for the flight back.  Private car transfer is available upon request at additional cost.
