Upon arrival you will have a shuttle transfer to your accommodation in Akureyri.

In the evening you will escape the light pollution of the city and join us just outside Akureyri for a chance to witness the incredible Northern Lights. This winter’s forecasts are very promising, and North Iceland is one of the best places to experience this natural wonder. Each evening, our destination is chosen based on the weather and sky conditions to give you the best possible chance of seeing the lights.

Please note that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and sightings cannot be guaranteed even if the tour operates. If the evening tour goes ahead and the Northern Lights are not seen, we will offer the trip again for free.

Accommodation in Akureyri for 4 nights.

Lake Mývatn - Mývatn Nature Baths

Myvatn Nature Baths ©Visit North Iceland

We begin by driving along the scenic coast of Eyjafjordur, one of Iceland’s longest fjords. Our first stop is the stunning Godafoss waterfall, known as one of the most spectacular in the country.

From there, we continue toward Lake Myvatn, a unique natural area formed by a massive basaltic lava eruption over 2,300 years ago. The surrounding landscape has volcanic features, including dramatic lava pillars and rootless vents. Along the way, we stop at the pseudocraters of Skutustadagigar before continuing to the striking lava formations of Dimmuborgir, one of the most popular attractions in the Myvatn region. We’ll also visit Grjotagja Rift, a former natural bathing cave with geothermally heated water emerging from a volcanic fissure. The journey continues to two remarkable waterfalls - Selfoss and Dettifoss, the latter being one of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe.

You’ll then have the chance to unwind and soak in the geothermal waters of the Myvatn Nature Baths. After this relaxing experience, we make our way back to Akureyri.
