Upon arrival you will have a shuttle transfer to your accommodation in Akureyri.

In the evening you will escape the light pollution of the city and join us just outside Akureyri for a chance to witness the incredible Northern Lights. This winter’s forecasts are very promising, and North Iceland is one of the best places to experience this natural wonder. Each evening, our destination is chosen based on the weather and sky conditions to give you the best possible chance of seeing the lights. Please note that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and sightings cannot be guaranteed even if the tour operates. If the evening tour goes ahead and the Northern Lights are not seen, we will offer the trip again for free.

Accommodation in Akureyri for 3 nights.

Lake Mývatn - Mývatn Nature Baths

We begin our journey driving along the scenic coast of Eyjafjordur, one of the longest and most beautiful fjords in Iceland.

The first stop is at the stunning Godafoss waterfall, often considered one of Iceland's most spectacular falls. From there, we continue toward Lake Myvatn - a unique natural area formed by a massive basaltic lava eruption approximately 2,300 years ago. The landscape around the lake is rich in volcanic features, including dramatic lava pillars and rootless vents.

We will visit the Grjotagja cave, a small lava cave with a geothermal hot spring inside, followed by a stop at the bubbling geothermal area of Hverarond in Namaskard, known for its vivid colors and steaming fumaroles.

To unwind, enjoy a relaxing soak in the Myvatn Nature Baths, where you can bathe in warm geothermal waters and rejuvenate in the steam baths. On the return journey, we explore the surreal lava formations of Dimmuborgir, one of the most popular attractions in the area, as well as Skutustadagigar, a field of pseudocraters formed by gas explosions under lava flows. The final stop is in Eyjafjordur, offering a panoramic view over the fjord with a perfect photo opportunity looking toward the town of Akureyri.
