Reykjavik has an astounding variety of restaurants comprising of both ethnic styles from around the world and also cuisine native to Iceland. As anyone who has experienced Icelandic cuisine will tell you, the food served in Icelandic homes and restaurants is excellent in quality and taste.
Iceland’s two main strong resources in terms of food are the fish and the lamb, which are always fresh. The Icelandic lamb spends the summer in the wild, feeding off of nothing but the most natural herbs and grasses.

This restaurant is located by the city lake Tjornin. A favorite fish restaurant with exquisite specialties and daily changing menus. This restaurant is In a quiet neighborhood in the old town also a great little fish restaurant, which is favored by the locals. Only for single guests! Particular specialty: whale.
PERLAN (The pearl), in Oskjuhlid, 105 Reykjavik
On a hill close to the citys domestic airport creative architects covered the 5 hot water tanks supplying the city with a glass cupola. Here you find an international rotating restaurant of the highest class (unfortunately also with some of the highest prices). Those looking for something less pricey may eat in the cafeteria, where cake is also on offer in the afternoons you can have the vista for free. The atmosphere is a bit cool, but spectacular, and is especially suitable for very large groups of up to 500 persons.

The restaurant in a former bakery dating from 1834 offers exceptional Icelandic cuisine in a cozy atmosphere. Different rooms for 10 to 30 persons each.

EINAR BEN, Adalstraeti, 101 Reykjavik
Newly opened in 1997, and is a hit. There a feast awaits you that echoes the opulent times of the poet and entrepreneur Einar Benediktsson who in the 19th century made his mark on the nation. Many Icelandic idioms and phrases are derived from his poems which are his greatest legacy. Modern cuisine, fine yet natural atmosphere. There are three interconnected rooms, each for 10 25 persons as well as a comfortable bar on the top floor for cocktails and after-dinner drinks.
